The New 3R's Sep 8,2024
When we think of the classic 3 R's—Reading, ‘Riting, and ‘Rithmetic—we often associate them with education. But as we look at Generation Alpha, those born between 2010 and 2024, we need to consider another set of R's that are just as crucial: Relevance, Relationships, and Resilience.
Generation Alpha is searching for authenticity in a world that often feels disconnected from traditional institutions. Growing up in a digital age, they are bombarded with information and diverse viewpoints, making it essential for them to find genuine connections and experiences that resonate with their values. Research shows that most kids in this generation will have little to no connection to a church unless their parents actively nurture that relationship.
As grandparents, it may fall on you alone to help them develop a meaningful relationship with Jesus. Your wisdom and life experiences are invaluable. By engaging in open conversations about faith and sharing your own stories, you help cultivate their curiosity. We need to encourage them to explore their spirituality and show them the signposts that lead to God’s love and grace.
