“As we serve, witness and worship, we will be the reflection of Jesus Christ without barriers.” - CMC Mission Statement
Shared Beliefs With Other Protestant Denominatons:
- We believe in the Triune (Trinity) God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- A faith in the mystery of salvation in and through Jesus Christ.
- We believe that God’s. redemptive love is realized in human life by the work of the Spirit, both in our personal experiences and in the community of believers.
- We recognize that the reign of God is both a present and future reality.
- We recognize the authority of Scripture, both in matters of faith and in practice.
- We celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism in persons of all ages and celebrate an open table at Holy Communion.
- We believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, where He will return in glory to judge the living and the dead, bringing about the final resurrection and the establishment of a new heaven and a new earth.
Our Wesleyan Methodist Beliefs:
- Grace is central to our understanding of the Christian faith and life.
- Prevenient grace, which is the grace that precedes human decision, enables individuals to respond to God's call to salvation.
- We emphasize both justification (being made right with God) and sanctification (growing in holiness).
- Christians can reach a state of perfect love (Perfection), where they live in complete love for God and neighbor, free from willful sin.
- Our theological reflection includes four sources: Scripture, tradition, reason, and experience. Scripture is considered the primary source, but tradition, reason, and experience also play important roles in understanding faith.
- Baptism is an ordinance established by God and re-baptism is not necessary. We do offer an opportunity to "remember your baptism."
- We strive to have a dual focus - one on personal holiness (individual relationship with God) and the other on social holiness (living out one's faith in the world).
