Truth and Restoration - October 6 2024
Have you ever had to have “that” conversation with a friend who needed a wake-up call or a loved one making a poor choice? Those moments can be tough, but they often lead to growth and healing. The challenge is that we coexist in a community where no one wants to say the hard stuff, and fewer want to hear it. People act as if they want to live without being in true communion with one another. I mind my own business, you mind yours!
To be clear, “community” includes next-door neighbors, the workers behind counters, folks visiting the lake, heck - even the person in the pew in front of you. The Oxford Dictionary defines communion as: sharing intimate thoughts and feelings, especially on a mental or spiritual level. You are not in a community if you don’t commune - especially with ones you disagree!
Today, we focus on the prophetess Huldah. She delivered a hard message to a nation in crisis. The people of Israel needed to confront their disconnect from God. Her courage to commune boldly brought new direction and hope to a lost community. God was restored to the nation. What’s your status with God?
As we gather for “Communion” today, let’s remember this is more than a sacrament; it symbolizes our unity in Christ and invites us to reflect on our connections with God and one another. To love our neighbors as ourselves!
