Are We In Revival - October 20 2024
Many people have been commenting that there is something “in the air”— that something “spiritual” is happening. While some are unsure of what it is, others are proclaiming that a “revival” is coming. Most people have never witnessed a mass event where the Holy Spirit moves through eager hearts in this manner… and some don’t care.
History is full of revival movements, but the first Christian revival can be traced to the powerful events of Pentecost in Acts 2:1-4. As the Holy Spirit descended like tongues of fire, the early church was transformed, igniting a movement that changed the world. However, many people remained passive over the Pentecost, or dismissive, thinking, “This isn’t for me,” or “It can’t be real.” Fortunately, when others heard the same news and responded with eagerness, saying, “I want to be part of that!” Peter says in Acts 2:40b-41 “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
Much like the early believers, we are invited to choose how we respond. Will we observe from the sidelines, dismiss the miraculous, or embrace the revival with open hearts? Our willingness to engage can open the door to profound change, not just in our lives but in our communities.
Is the resonance of revival in the air? What is your heart telling you?
