Pastor David - The Road to Worship January 5 2025
When we celebrate Epiphany Sunday, we reflect on the journey of the wise men from the East and the transformative power of their recognition of Christ. One intriguing tradition associated with this observance is the "Chalking of the Doors." This practice invites us to bless our homes and lives, marking the new year with the initials of the Magi—C, M, B—signifying "Christus Mansionem Benedicat" (May Christ bless this house).
By inviting Christ into our daily lives, we open ourselves to profound joy and personal transformation. His light guides us through life's challenges, fostering resilience and hope. We need to stop and realize that seeking Christ is not just a personal journey; it enriches our community and deepens our collective faith.
On this last Sunday in Christmastide, we are called to channel our inner Magi, who traveled great distances to seek the truth. Who in our community, our family, or even those we call marginalized are we called to visit – to take gifts of ourselves and the light of Christ?
Our “Epiphany” is not only about celebrating the revelation of Christ but also about acting in our lives, blessing our homes and communities with His love and grace. Let us remember that He is "Emmanuel, God with us," and that this promise calls us to live with purpose, hospitality, and joy.
"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."
- Psalm 119:105
