Have you ever noticed how easy it is to get caught up in rules and routines, even when they don’t serve us well? Sometimes, we can become so focused on doing things “the right way” that we lose sight of the bigger picture. But what if the heart of the matter isn’t about rules at all? What if it’s about relationships, compassion, and the way we respond to the needs around us?

It takes courage to step back and ask, “What really matters here?” It takes grace to let go of rigidity and embrace the messiness of love and mercy. This isn’t about disregarding principles or structure—it’s about remembering that principles are meant to guide us, not bind us.

When we begin to see through the lens of compassion, we may realize that the interruptions, the unexpected moments, and even the challenges are opportunities to live out our faith in deeper, more meaningful ways.

As we wind down this Lenten season, how we can trade rigidity for grace, rules for relationship, and fear for love. This is not a call to rule breaking, but to the beauty of living in the freedom of God’s mercy!
