Weekly Reading Plan
Daily Devotion: When the Oil Flows
Full Scripture: 2 Kings 4:1-7
Hi everybody – I wanted to let you know I’ve dropped a new one-week reading plan that will lead up to the Sunday Sermon for February 23rd, 2025.
I plan to drop the daily devotion right here in the blog each morning. The scripture will be in the CMC App - Click on the Bible icon at the bottom then click "Plan" that pops up just above it.
Here is day one...

Day 1: God Sees Your Desperation
This week I wanted move us back into a favorite story of mine from the Old Testament. The story is a reminder that when we bring our "empty jars"—our needs, prayers, and faith—to God, He fills them with His abundant blessings.
Now, you could read the whole scripture a head of time or take it a verse at a time. I like devotions that force us to sit in a single verse or two. What I will try and show you this week is that each verse has its own story to tell.
For today – the takeaway will be that God Sees our Desperation. You can find the scripture in the reading plan. For those that do not have the app (you should) here are the two readings. Go ahead and read the text then come finish this short blog.
Scriptures:
What do you think?
The widow’s situation was dire—she had lost her husband and was about to lose her sons to slavery because of her debts. In her desperation, she cried out for help. God sees our struggles and hears our cries, just as Jesus invites us to come to Him with our burdens. He cares about every detail of our lives and is faithful to respond.
Today’s Challenge:
Now Pray:
Ask God to help you trust Him in your moments of desperation and to remember that He is always attentive to your needs.
For His glory,
Rev. D!

I Have been through desperate situations many times in my life. The death of my 1st wife, Bev at age 32 and an unborn daughter left me with a 4 year old son to raise. Bev’s death was only 6 months after the death of my mother, Manilla, at the young age of 56. The recent death of my 2nd, x-wife, Kathleen, at the age of 66 has hit me very hard. Now, with my lovely wife and your sweet sister Karen, we face a desperate situation together with our home burning down on January 8th,2025.
n
nWhile these desperate times are a few of many in my life, they are the worse!
n
nPrayer helped me and still helps me deal with these terrible events but I also have dealt with them on my own and with the help of others.
n
nSo, prayer alone does help, but one needs to find the strength to continue on their own with the help of others to survive and stay strong to move on with life’s trials and tribulations.
