Advent 2024 - Day 12

Day 12: Thursday, December 12, 2024
Primary Scripture: Luke 3:6
Supporting Scriptures: John 1:29-34; Romans 15:7-13

A couple of years ago Becky and I attended the NCAA final pregame concert in Houston. No one needed a ticket so the line to get in was very long. We half decided to give up when we noticed an unassuming door where a girl allowed a couple  inside  the still closed pavilion area. We asked if we could enter and she said sure.  To our amazement we were inside the event before a single person in the long line entered.  My point here is that salvation is open for everyone, you don't have to wait in line.

John the Baptist’s declaration that “all people will see God’s salvation” (Luke 3:6) is a profound reminder that Jesus came not just for Israel but for the entire world. This promise of universal salvation is fulfilled in Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29-34). Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus made God’s grace and mercy available to all who believe in Him.

Paul echoes this truth in Romans 15:7-13, calling believers to accept one another in unity, just as Christ has accepted us. He reminds us that Jesus came to fulfill the promises made to Israel while also extending salvation to the Gentiles. This inclusiveness is central to the gospel message: no one is beyond the reach of God’s love.

As we reflect on these passages, let us ask ourselves: Do we live in a way that reflects the universality of God’s salvation? Are we welcoming and gracious to others, just as Christ has been to us? Advent is a time to celebrate the hope we have in Jesus and to share that hope with those around us.

Let's Pray:
Lord, thank You for sending Jesus to bring salvation to all people. Help us to live in a way that reflects Your love and grace, welcoming others into Your family. May our lives be a testimony to the hope we have in You, and may we share that hope with those who are searching for You. Amen.
