Advent 2024 - Day 10
Day 10: Tuesday, December 10, 2024
Primary Scripture: Luke 3:3
Supporting Scriptures: Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8
Most people hear the word repent and they bristle. They translate repent to (if you don't) you're going to hell, blah, blah, blah. It "simply" means that by loving Christ we find ourselves changing in ways that are better for our lives and our relationship to Him.
John the Baptist proclaimed a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, preparing people for the arrival of Jesus. His message was not just about turning away from sin but also about embracing a new way of life that reflected God’s kingdom. This call to repentance is still relevant for us today.
In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commands His followers to continue this mission: to go into the world, making disciples and baptizing them in His name. Acts 1:8 reminds us that we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be witnesses to the ends of the earth. Like John, we are called to share the message of repentance and forgiveness, inviting others to experience the life-changing grace of Jesus Christ.
As we reflect on John’s mission, it’s important to ask ourselves: Are we living as witnesses of God’s grace? Are we sharing His message of hope with those around us? Advent is a time to recommit ourselves to the mission of proclaiming the good news, both through our words and our actions.
Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of repentance and forgiveness. Help us to turn our hearts fully to You and to embrace the transformation You bring to our lives. Empower us through Your Holy Spirit to share Your message of hope and salvation with others. May we live as witnesses of Your grace, pointing others to the joy and freedom found in You.
Amen.
